So, what’s like to be young in Leith? Drugs, drink, gang culture and nowhere to go were main topics of discussion in The Citadel that Friday afternoon. At first sight all the media stereotypes of youth are there on flipcharts at our Open Space event for young people. Listen to workshop discussions and you find plenty of surprises. Elrec’s cool chill out zone

“It’s cool”

What more can you say? Elrec’s Youth Zone has the seal of approval from the young people who use it but it is not just for fun. The Youth Zone in Forth Street is the only space in Edinburgh and Lothians where young people from ethnic minority communities can meet to make new friends, mix music, share ideas or get confidential advice on all kinds of issues.
