Answering questions of domestic violence

Life goes on whatever is happening in Westminster. Here’s an email from Kasia Raszewska about an important project at Swietlica, providing support and information for people experiencing domestic violence.  You are welcome to join the meeting chaired by community policeman Simon Daley on Monday 10th May at 6.30pm in Fort Community Wing.  Over to Kasia for more information…
Hello

Just reminding you that Swietlica Domestic Violence Inter-Agency discussion is happening this Monday, 10th of May at 6.30pm, Fort Community Wing. This will be an informal and relaxed meeting chaired by PC Simon Daley. The aim of the session is to learn about different resources available for those who experience violence so that we can provide more appropriate advice, sign posting and services.

Swietlica volunteers are hoping to develop a more multi-agency approach to improve the safety of migrants. Please invite anyone who might be interested.

  1. Thanks to Swietlica for hosting a very interesting event and for inviting us along to talk more about Shakti’s varied services for Black & ethnic minority women, children and young people needing support, information and advocacy about domestic abuse. The feedback from those who attended was invaluable to us and also to the police who were keen to learn more about the difficulties people face in just talking about domestic abuse, let alone reporting it.
The more meetings like this, the easier talking about and tackling domestic abuse becomes!

  2. Thank you for the feedback Lisa, it is really encouraging to hear how organisations can share information that helps to overcome difficulties.
